Welcome to Cork University hospital (CUH). CUH is a progressive, bustling, dynamic teaching hospital in the South of Ireland. It is the employer of choice for people seeking a nursing/midwifery career in the health service in Ireland. CUH offers nurses great career opportunities as it has a total of 40 different medical and surgical specialties on the campus and is the largest university teaching hospital in Ireland.
CUMH which is located on the CUH campus opened in 2007 following the amalgamation of all maternity services in the Cork area. CUMH provides a regional Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Neonatology Service. In 2014 CUMH had 15,000 inpatient discharges, 4,100 day cases, and 8,200 births annually, making it one of the busiest maternity hospitals in the country. The maternity department is a combined unit comprising antenatal, intranatal and postnatal services.
University Hospital Waterford (UHW) is a Model 4 teaching hospital that provides General Medical, Surgical, Paediatric and Maternity care to people living in South Kilkenny, Waterford City and County.
UHW provides specialty services to the population of the south east c. 500 000 in the following areas of clinical practice: Cardiology (including Interventional Cardiac Procedures), Trauma Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Nephrology, Rheumatology, Urology, Vascular Surgery, ENT, Neonatology, Radiology, Pathology and Microbiology.
The hospital is the designated Cancer Centre for the South East, providing rapid access assessment for Breast, Prostate, Lung and Skin cancers. Cancer surgery is centralised at UHW. Haematology and Medical Oncology is provided through our inpatient and day care facilities.
University Hospital Kerry (UHK) is a dynamic and fast paced, large Model 3 Acute Hospital situated in Tralee, Co. Kerry. As a member of the South/South West Hospital Group, UHK is the third largest hospital within the Group, has close links to the tertiary referral centre at Cork University Hospital. As a teaching hospital UHK is affiliated with University College Cork as its primary academic partner.
Onsite specialist teams include Medical, Surgical, Paediatrics, Neonatal, Critical care, Coronary care, Maternity, Orthopaedics, Palliative and Mental health.
The Mercy University Hospital has 314 beds, employs approximately 1,200 staff and has an annual budget of approximately €120m. MUH offers a wide range of specialities which provide inpatient, day patient and outpatient services, along with a 24/7 emergency department and an urgent care centre which is located on St. Mary’s Health Campus. MUH serves a current population of approximately 870,000 people.
Mercy University Hospital has an active research agenda and the Health Research Board (HRB) adult clinical research facility is located on the hospital campus. The hospital is a Catholic voluntary acute general hospital owned by the Sisters of Mercy and became a limited company in 2003. The hospital is a registered charity and operates as a not-for-profit entity.
Tipperary University Hospital located in Clonmel provides acute general and maternity services. The hospital serves the catchment area of South Tipperary and also provides services to patients residing in North Tipperary and West Waterford. The hospital also provides obstetric outreach clinics in both Thurles and Tipperary Town.

Bantry General Hospital provides acute general hospital services to the population of a unique, rural, very large geographical area encompassing West Cork and South Kerry. Travel times to Cork city are up to three hours by car from parts of the mainland catchment area of the hospital. The hospital is a 118-bedded acute general hospital and provides, within available resources, a large range of inpatient, outpatient and day case services.
Mallow General Hospital specializes in day surgery, has a wide range of selected acute medicine, local injuries management and a large range of diagnostic services (including endoscopy, laboratory medicine and radiology)
MGH has 46 medical beds, 10-day beds, 4 surgical beds, eight Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) treatment spaces and a Local Injury Unit, both of which operate twelve hours a day, seven days a week.
MGH has one theatre and two bay theatre recovery for surgical day case procedures together with a new state-of-the-art two-procedure room Endoscopy unit with associated first and second stage recovery bays.
Lourdes Orthopaedic Hospital is a public hospital located in Kilkenny, County Kilkenny, Ireland. It is managed by the Health Service Executive and provides in-patient and out-patient orthopaedic services for the population of County Kilkenny and the South East.
