Find all the convenience and hustle and bustle of city living, with some of Canada’s most spectacular natural vistas right on your doorstep!
New Brunswick enjoys a significantly lower cost of living than most of the rest of Canada and North America. Housing is affordable, with the average house price in New Brunswick around $265,000. Rents are also among the cheapest in North America.
Canada’s Only Officially Bilingual Province
Since the 1960s New Brunswick has stood out as Canada’s only officially bilingual province. Roughly one-third of residents are Acadian French native speakers, with the other two-thirds being majority English speakers.
All public services, including education at all levels, are offered in both English and French. Health services, as mentioned, reflect this trend, with Horizon and Vitalité respectively catering to speakers of New Brunswick’s two official languages.
Much like elsewhere in Canada, a growing number of New Brunswickers – 34% as of 2022 – count themselves as bilingual.
All the Excitement and Convenience of City Living
New Brunswick’s size means that each of its cities, cultural centres and tourist attractions are conveniently located within driving distance of one another, placing all the amenities and excitement of city living right at your front door.
New England, located just over the border, opens the door to quick and convenient day trips to the United States. Major city centres such as Halifax, Montreal and Boston are only a car ride away.
Adventure at Your Doorstep
New Brunswick experiences the full intensity of all four seasons throughout the year and harnesses that potential with some of Canada’s most diverse and beautiful natural environments. Summers reach highs of 25°C while winters can get as cold as -20°C.
Live life on the wild side with a staggering choice of natural backdrops, from sandy beaches to verdant forests, ski slopes to rolling farmland. Discover world-famous salmon runs or try delicious locally-produced maple taffy off a bed of crisp, clean snow throughout the winter months.
Ski, snowboard, hike cross-country on one of the province’s more than 800 trails or go for a swim in the North Atlantic. From fishing to kayaking to hunting to mountain biking, whatever gets your heart pumping, New Brunswick is sure to provide.
First Class Healthcare
With 44 hospitals across the province, New Brunswick has two health authorities to oversee healthcare in the jurisdiction. Horizon Health Network is the largest health authority in the province and the second-largest in Atlantic Canada. It employs 13,000 professionals from across the healthcare spectrum.
Vitalité is the only Francophone-managed healthcare provider in Canada. It, too, offers its sweeping range of healthcare services in both of New Brunswick’s official languages. It employs more than 7,700 people and operates facilities all across the province of New Brunswick.
