The UK home office have announced changes to English requirements for Tier 2 (general) visa applicants.  

From 1 October 2019, International doctors, nurses, dentists and midwives will no longer require a separate English language test once they have passed the English language assessment accepted by the relevant regulated professional body as a requirement for registration.  

This amendment by the Home office reduces the burden on visa applicants by eliminating the need for a second English language test, saving on time and cost of sitting these tests. Nurses and Midwifes can now use their OET or IELTS for both registration and Tier 2 (general) application. The same applies to those registering with the GMC.  

The English requirement changes apply to only those who submit their Tier 2 (general) visa application on or after 1 October.
