Nurses, Make the Move to Medway NHS

Medway NHS Foundation Trust is unique – and, following recent transformational changes within the organisation, it is an exciting time to be joining us.

We are the largest hospital in Kent and we do a huge amount here for the diverse population of approximately 400,000 across Medway and Swale; looking after the 100,000 people who come to our emergency department, delivering 5,000 babies and carrying out 22,000 operations each year. We use two million items of bedding each year and serve half a million cups of tea!

You would be joining a team of over 4,000 highly skilled and dedicated people, united by a passion for providing brilliant care for the thousands of patients that pass through our door each day. As the largest employer in Medway, we are all committed to doing our best for the local community and working with a whole range of partners to improve public health across the area.

Situated on the north coast of Kent, Medway is surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside and coastlines south east England has to offer, yet it is less than an hour by train to London.  It is also connected to an excellent road network enabling easy access across the south east of England and further afield, including Europe, just 21 miles from the Kent coast.

Food and drink lovers can find an excellent choice of restaurants, cafes and public houses throughout Medway. A blend of small quirky independent shops and some of the better known high street stores you would expect to see can be found throughout Medway. For bargain hunters there are weekly local markets in Gillingham and Strood town centres to browse around and local Kent produce direct from the farmers and producers can be found at the Rochester Farmers’ Market. Bluewater, one of England’s biggest shopping centres, is a 25 minute drive away, and accessible by public transport.

Medway is the south-east’s festival and events capital, hosting more than 30 days of free festivals and events each year, including bustling street festivals, open air concerts and theatre performances to major international sporting events at Medway Park.

Whether a porter or nurse, a pharmacist or a housekeeper, a doctor or an IT expert, everyone has a vital role to play in providing care for almost half a million people from the Medway towns and Kent more widely. We do hope you will join us and we look forward to welcoming you to Medway.
