Latrobe Regional Hospital is Gippsland’s specialist referral and trauma centre located 150km east of Melbourne. We are a purpose-built teaching hospital caring for a population of more than 270,000 people. We currently have 313 beds and treatment chairs. Our comprehensive range of services extends to emergency, intensive care, orthopaedic & general surgery, Hospital in the Home, palliative care, allied health, orthotics & prosthetics care, cardiac catheter lab, obstetrics, special care nursery, paediatric, chemotherapy, medical and radiation oncology at the Gippsland Cancer Care Centre, dialysis, rehab, aged care, both acute and aged Psych.
LRH is the main provider of acute mental health services in Gippsland with inpatient care at the hospital and community mental health services and teams in the Latrobe Valley, Sale, Bairnsdale, Yarram, Orbost, Warragul, and Wonthaggi.
As a teaching hospital we are closely affiliated with Monash University’s Rural Health and Federation University and provide placements and clinical experience for students.
Our hospital is currently undergoing significant redevelopment with an increase in theatres, CCU beds, birthing suites, special care nursery beds, a dedicated paediatric Unit, a new inpatient unit, 24 additional surgical beds, postnatal beds, obstetric beds, gynaecology beds and recovery/day procedure beds.
