After almost two years, Australia is reopening its borders to fully vaccinated tourists and other visa holders from today.
The reopening is welcome news to thousands of skilled migrants, working holidaymakers and students whose dream move Down Under was put on hold as the country dealt with the Covid-19 pandemic. Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s recent announcement means those people will now be able to move in and out of Australia without restriction.
The news is a much-needed boost to Australian healthcare employers who have felt the pinch of closed borders in a country that relies on immigration to meet the needs of both economy and population.
Nurses, doctors, allied health professionals and social care workers are in particular demand and will be highly sought after at the upcoming Healthcare Job Fairs in Ireland and the UK.
Goulburn Valley Health from the State of Victoria is one of many healthcare employers taking part in the fairs and welcoming international back health and social care professionals.
Karen Linford, Executive Director People, Development & Capability at GV Health said the reopening of international borders has come at a great time.
GV Health has a range of roles available in Nursing & Midwifery, Allied Health, Medical (Senior & Junior) and Mental Health and are near completion of an exciting $229 million redevelopment, which will open doors for more recruitment opportunities.
Asked why attendees would consider a move to the Goulburn Valley, Linford was effusive:
“Greater Shepparton offers the charm of a rural lifestyle combined with all the big city facilities. Known as the food bowl of Australia, a move to the Goulburn Valley in Victoria, Australia means great food, wine, a world class art museum and rivers, lakes and snowfields at your doorstep. We have a range of education options, premiere housing estates, and all the must have facilities, coupled with a vibrant, diverse culture makes living and working here unique. We enjoy a relaxed country lifestyle, while only being two hours from Melbourne, Victoria’s capital city.”
“We offer one-on-one relocation assistance through our Community Connector program. This includes support and a go to contact for new employees and/or partner’s/family’s so that they not only feel welcome but will eventually call Greater Shepparton home. Offering support with real estate, education, childcare and more. Our Community Connector will also connect new arrivals with other newbies to the region and explore opportunities for participation in community activities such as religious groups, sporting groups, community groups and more,” Ms Linford said.
GV Health are also offering sponsorship, relocation incentives, generous salary packaging, flexible work practices and options to purchase additional leave to help create the all-important work/life balance.
Other Victorian employers attending the Healthcare Job Fairs include: The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Barwon Health, Goulburn Valley Health, Bairnsdale Regional Health Service, Alfred Health and Techne Group.
