St Patrick’s Mental Health Services (SPMHS) is Ireland’s largest independent, not-for-profit mental health service provider. It provides community and outpatient care through its Dean Clinics, and day patient services through its Wellness & Recovery Centre. The National Forensic Mental Health Service is a new state of the art, purpose-built HSE facility in Portrane, Co. Dublin. The NFMHS has successfully opened 110 beds in the Central Mental Hospital and is due to expand to 130 beds in May 2023. The service will develop further with the opening of the Intensive Care and Rehabilitation Unit at the end of 2023. The NFMHS is a therapeutic facility which is run under a hospital ethos and offers a range of forensic mental health services to its patients, and is the only centre in the Republic to provide specialist forensic psychiatric treatment for acute, medium and longer-term psychiatric care.

Our Practice Education Team will prepare you for taking on the role of being a Mentor for student nurses and provides ongoing support for both the student and the Mentor. This Team works closely with the Universities in ensuring that our clinical placements are providing a high quality learning experience for student nurses.
For your CPD, we work closely with the Clinical Education Centre for Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals (CEC) an Education Provider. Nursing staff have free access to education and training sessions and your learning needs are agreed through meetings and discussion with your Line Manager.
